On behalf of our client, a leading seed processing equipment manufacturer for vegetable and flower seed companies worldwide with corporate headquarter in The Netherlands, we are seeking candidates and accepting resumes for immediate consideration for the position of Field Service Technician. To support its growing business in North America, this client has opened an office in Salinas California where this position will be based.

Job Summary

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for technical support and follow up with company equipment at customer sites in the Americas region (North- and Latin America). Main activities will be machine installations, repairs, service/maintenance, spare part replacement, training, monitoring, and technical troubleshooting. Most of this technical support will be performed at the customer’s locations and this will mainly be in the Northern California region (Salinas, Woodland, Modesto – but also Los Angeles). In addition to the above mentioned technical support there might also be some sales-related activities such as demonstrating machines, performing testing activities, customer visits for sales purposes, and possible trade show participation.  Responsibilities to include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Responsible for successful machine installations and machine repairs
  • Managing and executing service contracts with US customers
  • Spare parts management and on-site installation
  • Resolve any technical issues with company equipment via phone, email or on-site visit
  • Work closely with and report all activities to the Regional Sales Head
  • Liaise via phone/email with our Service Manager at corporate headquarters
  • Responsible for timely follow up with any technical requests from customers
  • Organize and maintain administration and records of all activities
  • Fast response to any technical urgencies from customers

Ideal candidate will have the ability to successfully perform the above summarized position as well as possess the following skills, education and/or experience:

  • Technical education with good knowledge of mechanical/technical/electrical
  • Three+ years of work experience as a Field Service Technician
  • Experience with industrial dryers would be a plus
  • Goal oriented problem-solving attitude
  • Responsible and reliable person who can work independently
  • Good communication skills to follow up timely and professionally with customers
  • General user-level knowledge of computers and modern programs
  • Work experience in the Seed Industry would be beneficial
  • Travel throughout California mainly but also some travel to other US states and possibly Latin America
  • On-call availability for any immediate technical needs at customer sites
  • Knowledge of Spanish would be beneficial (possible deployment in Latin America)
