YOUR POSITION WITH TNC

As a key member of The People Team, The Employee Relations Manager will work to ensure the treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with TNC Values and Code of Conduct wherever we work. They will do this by leading investigations into employee concerns, overseeing compliance programs, and partnering with colleagues across HR Management, Ethics & Compliance, and Business Units to develop proactive programs to ensure compliance and foster a respectful work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The primary focus of the role (75-80%) is responding promptly and empathetically to employee concerns and driving appropriate resolution through recommendations and follow-through including: workplace conduct investigations, complex compliance situations, and consultations on employment-related issues. The Employee Relations Manager will also help manage employment compliance programs related to TNC’s status as a US Federal Contractor.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

Receives and investigates reports related to hiring and employment practices, workplace conduct (in partnership with Ethics & Compliance), and equity/compliance matters. Creates an investigation plan, provides parties with information about the process, gathers evidence, conducts interviews, and drafts written findings and reports. Makes recommendations for appropriate remedies.
Tracks reports of concerns and produces internal and external reports on status of reports and trends in reporting.
Provides guidance to HR teams, managers and employees, where applicable, on a wide range of issues including employee counseling, performance management, and policy interpretation to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best practices.
Develop and deliver employee relations training presentations to management and other HR colleagues.
Partner with colleagues and key stakeholders to engage in continuous improvement in policies, procedures, communication vehicles and practices.
Stay on top of emerging trends and practices in employee relations.
Will lead and/or participate in project teams as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of employee or labor relations experience supporting large client groups in a global, matrixed, complex environment, or equivalent combination.
Experience investigating and managing employee relations concerns, making recommendations and influencing the outcome.
Experience with compliance programs (e.g. OFCCP, AAP) and strong knowledge of US employment laws (e.g. Title VII, ADA, FMLA, USERRA, FLSA, etc.)
Experience creating, managing, and interpreting policies and procedures.
Experience working with senior managers to develop and implement People strategies and initiatives.
Experience using MS Office software with experience in constructing and producing reports, data manipulation, and analysis.
Experience documenting and tracking employee relations reports, investigations and outcomes in a database and using the data to evaluate trends.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
Advanced understanding of fundamental HR concepts, processes, and services.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and strong client service orientation.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with all levels of individuals.
Negotiation skills.
Ability to develop a working knowledge of relevant conservation issues.
Excellent presentation skills and training experience.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proven ability to work in a fast paced, stressful and highly visible environment.
