Description

Excellent full-time opportunity for accomplished staff accountant seeking a role that offers additional responsibility and step up to a Senior Accountant.  In summary, this position will ensure the integrity of accounting information for the company by recording, verifying, and entering transactions. This includes preparing financial records of the company, ensuring the accuracy of reporting and maintaining compliance with accounting standards including GAAP. This requires playing a pivotal role in the monthly (and yearly) close processes by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and conducting variance analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Monthly Close Process – Prepare, support, and enter monthly journal entries, both recurring and non-recurring.
  • Account Reconciliation – Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance. Maintain and support complete balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Variance Analysis – Conduct variance analysis on accounts working with operations to be able to explain any variances and prepare analysis reports. Assist in analyzing financial statements for areas of profit improvement and recommend action. This includes coordinating a lot of accounting projects and initiatives with different individuals from the accounting and finance group and with different departments.
  • Weekly Reporting: Assist in the development and production of weekly reports/financial dashboards.
  • Fixed Asset Management – Maintain a complete list of fixed assets, properly accounting for acquisitions, disposals and recording monthly depreciation expense.
  • Capital Expenditures – Lend financial perspective to business issues facing operations, including cost-benefit analysis and various ad-hoc projects. Build financial justification and prioritization with business managers including qualitative analysis/justifications. This will include tracking, reviewing and capitalizing Construction In Progress projects. Conduct reviews following implementation of the asset/process to measure the success of the project and if expected goals/returns were met.
  • Continuous Process Improvement: Development of processes to improve business efficiencies and improvement of existing processes including preparing, maintaining and updating SOPS.
  • Budgeting Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.
  • Year End Review - Assist with year-end review and year-end reporting requirements, investigating and resolving findings and account discrepancies.
  • Other Responsibilities - Other Ad-hoc requests, analysis and reporting as required.

Ideal candidate will have the follows skills, training and experience (a combination of these may be considered:

  • Five to seven years of experience in accounting and finance, with a heavy concentration in Agribusiness.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting or finance.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, including knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts in accounting.
  • Expertise in financial reporting and analysis including balance sheets, income statements and other financial reports.
  • Highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure including the proven ability to handle multiple competing projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially with intermediate to Advanced Experience in use and application of Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Famous.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work successfully with people from diverse backgrounds.

This is a direct-hire full-time opportunity with a rising grower/shipper offering a competitive salary, health, dental, and vision insurance, 401K with employer match, paid time off (vacation, holidays, & sick pay).  Salary range is dependent upon experience ($75K to $100K annually).
