Description

On behalf of a Salinas Valley, CA based grower/shipper/processor of fresh produce globally, we are seeking candidates for the position of Vice President, Finance.

ABOUT YOU

You will be responsible for developing and directing the company’s analytical, financial plans and policies. The VP of Finance will also report on metrics to optimize growth by understanding where efficiencies exist to maximize scalability throughout the year.

The following VP of Finance responsibilities include overseeing accounting operations, gathering and analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports.  Ultimately, you will work directly with the CEO/President of the organization to ensure operations remain on track to hit target goals.

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to...

  • Serve as a financial advisor to the executive team for strategic planning purposes
  • Oversee all sides of accounting operations, including payables, receivables, payroll and tax preparation
  • Manage the finance and accounting team, overseeing growth opportunities, bridging skills gaps, and managing talent for team growth.
  • Audit and improve productivity and effectiveness of current cross team processes
  • Prepare timely and accurate analyses, summaries and reports of financial data on the operating progress of the company
  • Develop appropriate tracking methods for revenue and expenses
  • Create a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting structure that includes a minimum cash threshold to meet operational needs
  • Lead and manage the budgeting process
  • Routinely review revenue cycle metrics to identify and address issues affecting overall performance proactively
  • Conduct detailed financial modeling and scenario analysis to assess potential investments and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Partner with senior leaders to ensure the company hits revenue targets
  • Manage insurance coverage for the organization, including compliance with local and federal regulatory matters

Ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications (a combination of these may be considered):

  • Proven work experience as a VP of Finance or similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance and other regulatory matters
  • Adept in fiscal management principles and processes, including resource management and needs assessment
  • Partner with Chief Executive Officer & Chief Operating Officer to establish and track revenue goals
  • Possesses critical knowledge of federal and multiple state tax laws as well as basic accounting issues
  • Proficiency in commonly used financial software/tools
  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field
  • 5 to 10 years of managerial experience
  • Certifications such as CPA, CFA, and CMA are preferred
